Department of Health and Social Care, England awarded for their commitment to tackle NCDs in Low-Middle Income Countries (LMICs)

In occasion of the United Kingdom’s ‘No Smoking Day’, WHO Deputy-Director General, Dr Zsuzsanna Jakab, handed over the 2020 Task Force Award to Jo Churchill, England’s Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Prevention, Public Health and Primary Care, in recognition of the Department of Health and Social Care’s commitment to multisectoral action in preventing tobacco use in low- and middle-income countries through the FCTC 2030 project.

The award was announced of WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros, during the ‘Friends of the Task Force’ meeting at the margins of the September 2020 UN General Assembly.
